For Minnesota State Representative - District 3A

I stand for what you believe :
Marv Ott
  • Efficient, responsive and accountable government
  • Government policies that strengthen families and communities
  • Improving education for children
  • Accessible, affordable healthcare for all our citizens
  • Public safety
  • Common sense decisions
  • Protecting Second Amendment rights

Business Climate/High Taxes: The largest employer in Minnesota is the State of Minnesota. The tax and regulation burden in our State does not encourage private sector businesses to begin or expand in Minnesota. We have to change this trend if we are to have a prosperous economy. If elected, I will work to prioritize the real needs of government, and reduce the size of government in areas that are unnecessary for the security, education and well being of our residents.

Healthcare Reform: We need to encourage and when necessary assist our citizens in obtaining health insurance through the private sector. This assistance could be in the form of tax credits or direct government subsidy so that every Minnesotan can have health insurance.

Education: Students in the Minneapolis/St. Paul school districts receive approximately 60% more in State aid then do students in Greater Minnesota. This is unfair and I will work to see that every student in Minnesota receives the same amount of State Aid so that we can begin to increase the academic achievements of our graduating Seniors.

Welfare Reform: Government should promote self sufficiency for the less fortunate who need a temporary "hand-up." This past legislative session, our State Government increased welfare spending but refused to use any of those funds to increase nursing home rates for our senior citizens.

Second Amendment rights: NRA Marv has been awarded an "A" rating for the 2008 General Election for Minnesota State Representative District 03A by the NRA Political Victory Fund.
